Golf in the Algarve

Portugals Algarve is widely renowned as being one of the hottest destinations for top class golf, with courses (many Championship level) running along the length of the coastline.

The Mayer Luz apartments, based in the beach village of Praia da Luz, are an ideal base for your golfing activities.

Alto Golf
Designed for golfers of all levels, Alto Golf enjoys a breathtaking view over Lagos Bay and boasts some of the longest holes in Mainland Europe – appropriately named “The Giant” Situated midway between Alvor and Portimao.

Golfe do Alamos
Only opened in March 2006, golf director Jorge Papa is certain the Alamos layout will soon rank high on the “must play” courses in Portugal and eventually become their premium course. Off N124 from Portimao to Monchique.

Golfe do Morgado
Superbly located on the lower slopes of the Monchique mountains in a secluded, peaceful spot, and sister course to Golfe do Alamos, the course measures over 7000 yards and can play long with a stiff wind. Off N124 from Portimao to Monchique.

Gramacho
Part-designed by Nick Price, Gramacho is unique in concept as the layout allows the golfer to play the same course several times yet with different greens and new challenges. Boulder outcrops, dry stone walls, fig, carob and olive trees all add to the truly unique golfing experience that is Gramacho. Off the EN125 between Lagoa and Carvoeiro.

Palmares
A course of great scenic beauty, offering a perfect combination of links and inland golf as well as a restaurant which boasts a breathtaking view over Lagos bay. The opening holes play links-style with the remainder following undulating valleys bordered by pine trees. Situated east of Lagos, off the EN125 towards Portimao.

Parque da Florestra
Now billed as one of Europes most picturesque courses and located in a majestic setting, Parque de Florestra offers not only outstanding golf, but also a wonderful and relaxing spa, a gym, other sports and leisure activities and generally a club-like ambience. Not to be missed! 1km west of Budens, 16kms west of Lagos.
